Do Not Let Yourself Be Taken Captive

What would I tell my child if they were getting ready to go to college? Would I want my child to even go to college? The state of higher education has been hijacked by leftist ideology.

We can see this clearly by how they have cancelled free speech. To espouse a biblical world-view is not only ignored, but mocked and filled with contempt.

Unless my child was mature enough in the faith to defend his or her world-view, it would be very dangerous to send my child to a college that is run by leftist extremists.

I am not talking about traditional liberalism. In traditional liberal thinking, all views were presented and there was a real desire to pursue truth. In leftist ideology, there is not tolerance for opposing views.

There are too many stories of well-meaning parents sending their religious kids to a leftist school (which is most secular and some “Christian” colleges) and then seeing their kids reject Christianity.

To answer my early question, I am not sure that I would encourage my child to go to a college that does not reflect my values. If I was to send my child to a Christian college,

I would do my best to examine their faculty and make sure that they were not teaching from a leftist ideology. Leftism is a religion! It has true believers who hold to their secular and anti-God ideology

just as strong as dedicated Christians hold to their faith in Christ. Not only do they hold to these views, but they promote them with the zeal that would put Christians to shame.

I went to a private Christian university. I also went to a school of theology at the university. The school was very upfront that it would promote a Christian world view.

The secular colleges and universities promote their world view, except they will not tell you upfront that this is their agenda. They mask their intent with a claim that they promote academic freedom.

Nonsense! It is a lie and it is deceptive! Paul warns us to not be taken captive by such deception. I wish more well-meaning parents would listen to the Apostle’s words!
