Every Day Witnesses
Jesus told his disciples that in this present age there will be wars, rumors of wars, famines and all kinds of distress. In the book of Revelation, John sees visions of judgment that will plague this age.
These are not literal events, but describe what will happen in order to turn people’s hearts to God. They are warning judgments of what will come at the end of this age.
Final judgment will come on this world! Prior to the end, Satan will be released for a short time and the restraint that is now on him will be loosened.
God uses human agencies in this age to restrain evil. We saw this first hand last century. Satan reared his ugly head through Nazism and Communism to enslave the world.
Nazism was defeated and Communism was restrained, but still is alive and well in parts of our world. Any form of totalitarianism is “beastly” and prior to the appearance of Christ,
Satan will be unbound to deceive the nations in one final effort to destroy God’s people and rule in chaos. Until that time happens, God will use history as a stage of His judgments to try
and turn people’s hearts to Him. The role of the body of Christ is to witness and provide escape from judgment and lead people to salvation. Jesus told us to “watch” for his coming.
We watch by doing what he has called us to do. We are to be “light-bearers” and “salt” in a world that is spiritually dark and rotting. Ultimately, the only hope for this age is Jesus Christ.
May God continue to pour out His grace on us and give us the perseverance to be His witnesses.
