Spiritual Renewal and Revival

I have been living in this verse for the past few weeks. We need spiritual renewal and revival in our land! It can only come when God’s people are moved to repentance and a genuine seeking the Lord.

God desires righteousness from His people. The righteousness that He requires is only possible because Jesus Christ has incarnated himself in us.

As we yield our will to his and live out his life through us, then we can “sow seeds of righteousness”. The result is “eating” the fruit of God’s unfailing love.

But before this can happen, there must be “groundbreaking”. Repentance involves breaking whatever resistance there is in our hearts.

Just as in farming (which I know nothing about!) there is a season for tilling the land. There is a season of tilling the soil of our hearts.

In this season of tilling, it is also time to seek the Lord. In His time he will come and bring the showers that we need!

The spiritual practices of silence, solitude, fasting and prayer are Jesus’ ways of waiting and seeking the Lord.

It is in these times that God can reveal our places of unplowed ground and through repentance and faith there can be breakthroughs.

For Israel in Hosea’s time, breaking down the “high places” of idol worship and their reliance on foreign nations were acts of repentance.

We all have our “high places” and we all are tempted to place our security in people or things other than God.

May we have the intentionality to break ground and seek the Lord! Remember, He wants us to live in His unfailing love and to shower us with His righteousness.

Renewal and revival are possible!
