Remembering Palm Sunday
Jesus would have some very hard and prophetic words for Jerusalem. He knew that the path that God’s people were on would lead to the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple.
This prophetic word of judgement would come to pass in 70 A.D. The upcoming remembrance of Palm Sunday is both a bitter sweet time in Israel’s history.
It is bitter because of the people’s rejection of Christ and their refusal to resist Roman rule. Their pathway of violence would ultimately lead to their destruction.
It is sweet, because God used this rejection in order to offer His Son for redemption and salvation. Palm Sunday has always been a great day for me personally.
I was born on Palm Sunday. I rejoice because I have received the Prince of Peace and have been born into His kingdom. We live in a world that is still in the throes of violence.
Violence will never bring God’s peace. It may at times restrain evil, but it is only in the coming of Jesus Christ that true peace will come on this earth.
My prayer is that all of Christ’s followers around the world will continue to proclaim and serve the Prince of Peace. Too many of our brothers and sisters live in places that are filled with violence.
May God give us all the faith and perseverance to live as His peacemakers as we wait for His glorious appearance.
