Looking Back

This coming Sunday I will be baptizing my two grandsons in Texas! They both received Christ as their Lord and Savior at Summer camps. They wanted their “pappy” to do the baptism.

Their church was gracious in giving me the opportunity to perform their baptisms. Ben is eleven years old and Timothy is fourteen.

They both have had very tender hearts and we were so excited when we got the news that they gave their hearts to Jesus. Baptism makes faith a public witness to the inward grace of God.

We have been praying for them since they were little that they would come to know our Lord. They are connected to a local church and we look forward to their growth in Christ.

Every time I do a baptism, I reflect back on my own baptism. I was seventeen years old and three months old in the Lord. I was baptized at Forrest Home Christian Conference Center.

It is 5000 feet above sea level and we were baptized in the lake at 7:00 a.m. The water was freezing! It really made the whole experience stand out as a resolution to follow Jesus.

When times get hard and faith begins to waiver, we can always look back at our baptism and remember our commitment to follow Jesus.

We are truly buried in the waters of baptism and raised to new life. We look forward in watching what God is doing to do through our grandsons.

Many of us have family members that do not have a relationship with Christ. Let us never give up praying that those we love that they will have a life changing encounter with Jesus.
