What Are We Being Taught About Christianity?

This morning I walked through the campus of Occidental College. This once was a Christian college, at least by name. I wonder what those young adult students are being taught about Christianity now?

My assumption is that Christianity is at best marginalized. More likely, it is hostile towards Judeo-Chrsitan values. This is the reality of most “higher” levels of education in our country.

I don’t think the Apostle Paul would label these institutions as “higher”. The Bible calls people who reject God in their thinking as “fools”.

Is it any wonder that many church going kids enter university or college and come out rejecting the values taught by their parents?

It takes a rather courageous student who embraces a Christian world-view to stand up to the “foolish” professors, who teach “hollow” and “deceptive” philosophy. I found my college days the time that I solidified my world-view.

I wrestled with my new Christian faith, but I had professors who helped me think clearly and thank God I came out of college stronger in my faith. I got a taste of leftist dribble when I took a couple of philosophy classes at my junior college.

I was a senior needing some general education classes for my degree. I watched as these new incoming freshmen soaked up the teacher’s words without any discernment. I challenged my professor and we actually had some good dialogue.

Sadly today, if I was at most secular colleges, I would be shouted down or not even given the opportunity to speak. I pray for the Christian young adults in these colleges.

I pray for the ministries like Inter-Varsity and Campus Crusade. Leftism is the strongest force against truth and Judeo-Christian values in our land.

It is empty, dangerous and will lead to the destruction of all that is good in our country. Our weapons for this cultural war are truth spoken in love.

We can and must pray for a spiritual revolution in our land. It begins with us!
